Supporting Journalists in Africa Through Open the Knowledge Journalism Awards

In this episode to celebrate World Press Freedom Day, Vice President for Communications at the Wikimedia Foundation, Anusha Alikhan, talks about the launch of the Wikimedia Foundation’s very first Open the Knowledge Journalism Awards.   These awards have been created to recognise journalists who prioritise diversity, equity, and inclusion in their reporting and contribute to fact-based stories for Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects.   The awards aim to inspire African journalists to embrace diversity and contribute to a more informed and equitable global society.
