Supreme Court Rules on Trump, Lisa Cook, Mail Ballots & Congress Moves Housing Bill

from Washington Today · host C-SPAN

The Supreme Court rejected President Trump's attempt to immediately remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook from office, while at the same time expanding presidential authority to remove other federal officials. The justices also upheld state laws allowing mail ballots postmarked by Election Day to be counted even if they arrive afterward. On Capitol Hill, Politico reports House Speaker Mike Johnson has officially sent the bipartisan housing affordability bill to President Trump's desk after Congress approved it last week. The measure had been delayed after the president called on lawmakers to prioritize the SAVE America Act, the Republican election reform bill that remains stalled. The dispute is now spilling over into the annual defense authorization bill, with some House Republicans threatening to oppose a procedural vote unless the SAVE Act is included. And with Independence Day approaching, we'll preview this year's National Mall fireworks celebration. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
