"Supreme Lord Sufficient Savior" - Week 4 - Colossians 1:18-23

When we feel overwhelmed by life, when the world seems too full of natural disasters, political upheaval, and individual evil, where can Christians turn for hope? Luckily, the people in the small church plant in Colosea were feeling some of the same way. The opening chapter of Paul’s letter to them is rich with the comforting truth that Christ is Supreme over all of those hardships and Sufficient for all that we need to overcome them. In this sermon we examine one of the most beautiful declarations of the person of Jesus in all of scripture.  The church at Colossae might have existed thousands of years ago, and thousands of miles away from us, but the letter Paul wrote to them is just as meaningful and relevant today as if it were written yesterday. The book of Colossians offers a wonderful mix of theological truth and practical life application. The beginning of the book presents one of the most profound teachings about Christ anywhere in scripture. The second half explains how that truth is expressed in every aspect of our lives, from our individual lives to our homes, families, and work. No matter where you are, there is something in this study for you.
