Sedang menurut riwayat Abu Daud, Al-Baihaqi dan Ibnu Majah bahwa Nabi Muhammad membaca surat ini pada tiap-tiap membaca Kotbah pada salat Jumat. Kedua riwayat ini menunjukkan bahwa surah Qaf sering dibaca Nabi Muhammad di tempat-tempat umum, untuk memperingatkan manusia tentang kejadian mereka dan nikmat-nikmat yang diberikan kepadanya, begitu pula tentang hari berbangkit, hari berhisab, surga, neraka, pahala, dosa, dsb. Surah ini dinamai juga Al-Basiqat diambil dari perkataan Al-Basiqat yang terdapat pada ayat 10 surah ini.
