SURF Mayo Clinic Gilyard Peterson Scholarship

We had the amazing opportunity to talk with Dr. Bruce Horazdovsky.  Dr. Horazdovsky is the Director of the Mayo SURF program. SURF stands for summer undergraduate research fellowship. If you are a student interested in going to graduate school for a PhD in biomedical research or are interested in pursuing an MD PhD this podcast will be of great interest to you.   New this year for Gustavus students is the Gilyard Peterson Scholarship that will be awarded to fund students selected for the SURF program at the Mayo Clinic. This scholarship has been created in partnership with the donor, Mr. Tim Peterson a Gustavus Alumnus and the Mayo Clinic SURF program.  We are so excited to share with you more about the SURF program and scholarship opportunity. See additional details below: Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) at the Mayo Clinic Scholarship Opportunity SURF program dates:  Tuesday, May 31, 2022 through Friday, Aug. 5, 2022 SURF Admission Requirements:  You can apply for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) if you: Have completed two or three years at a U.S. college or university at the time the SURF program begins Have a grade point average of at least 3.0 (4.0 scale) Are seriously considering a biomedical research career as a Ph.D. or M.D.-Ph.D. Gilyard Peterson Scholarship:  We are excited to announce that Gustavus has partnered with the Mayo Clinic thanks to a generous donor to offer the Gilyard Peterson Scholarship.  This scholarship will provide funding to selected students to participate in the Mayo Clinic SURF program.
