This week's surf news takes us from preservation to pop culture—and a few places in between. The Encyclopedia of Surfing goes on hiatus as Matt Warshaw shifts full steam ahead into the EOS Archive, a massive, non-commercial effort to preserve surf history before it disappears. Point Break is somehow getting a TV series (yes, really). There's also a shark bite in Northern California—sobering, but firmly in perspective—plus the return of thousands of Surfing Santas in Cocoa Beach. And finally, Texas is getting a $200M surf lagoon, because of course it is.
