from Vinyl Community Podcasts · host vinylcommunitypodcasts

Here we go again, Buddies! On this latest rendition of Surface Noise, I'm joined by David Bianco (Safe & Sound Texas Audio Excursion), Jason Roxas, and Arnaldo (Fidelios_Frequency) plus a new voice to the dais (but an old friend of mine) Tavis from Vinyl Talk with Tavis to discuss the unfortunate news of Tina Turner's passing - our memories and remembrances of the Queen of Rock - and then dig into the recent news of Rhino launching their own "premium" selection of audiophile-grade vinyl offerings with The Cars self-titled debut from 1978 and John Coltrane's "Coltrane's Sound" from 1964. The panel shares their thoughts on this latest player to the audiophile reissue arena, the potential thought process behind these titles at launch, and then a deeper dive of reissues in general: is the market being oversaturated with reissues and the multitude of marketing buzzwords and perceived values (obi strips, color vinyl, etc) that is jamming the bins of our record stores with product only targeted for new collectors and FOMO victims alike? This and more on the latest edition of Surface Noise, here only on Vinyl Community Podcasts!   Shoutout to regular panelist Jose Moreno Rahn on his upcoming nuptials! Shoutout to our friends Steve Carlson & Jim Gleason and their terrific podcast "2 Guys Talking About Records". Chinook Realm Religion and crime collide when a gruesome murder rocks the isolated community of Chinook, Montana. Local Deputy Ruth Vogel thought she was answering a routine animal control call, only to find a mangled corpse on the frozen embankment. Her small town is whipped into a frenzy and everyone is quick to point their fingers at a drug-addicted teenager, but Ruth suspects connections to a powerful religious group. Enter Agent Loro, an enigmatic FBI investigator tracking an evangelical cult that may have roots right here in Chinook. Loro and Ruth form a cautious partnership to find the killer—but as the mystery winds through Ruth’s life, her family, and her church, she’ll discover something more sinister than murder is afoot.Binge all episodes of Chinook exclusively and ad-free by joining Wondery+ in the Wondery App, Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
