652. We're in Minnesota. It's cold. It's snowed the other day I'm pretty proud I Shovelled my in-laws steps pretty good at it.

If you ask me You know like we're trying to get down the stairs today, and I'm like slipping I'm like and who shovel these stairs Dang, oh it's me How awesome are your pastor's Josh and Katie? I was I was reminiscing you know This is prepping yesterday, and I think we've been to all the like epic brunch stops in the North Loop And I think we've cried at every restaurant in the North Loop Like we're just kind of making our rounds like just sewing our tears into the soil of the North Loop No, I'm so grateful for Josh and Katie so grateful for the everyday community I'm like tell me like yeah, I'm speaking at Grove. They're every day No, I'm so excited to be here, but like Josh said my wife and I we serve for us full-time missionaries with my wife and Kona With fine fragrance and we work for the send how do you guys heard the send before? Okay, cool. Well, I'll show a little bit about that in a second This is my beautiful wife Rachel and you can't see her.

She's an unzled in there all tight baby Nova But we got a photo her whole family. Yes, we made a child that good looking Yes, that's Reese Reese Graham that's Nova Nova, Nova Florie. We named Reese after a guy named Reese house He was known as an intercessor and one of the things that when we were praying about his name We wanted to give him our son the gift of intercession that every time you think of his name He'd always remember that he has the gift of intercession his middle name Graham after the late evangelist Billy Graham and then Nova Her name means life new and her middle name is Florie after a 13 year old girl named Florie Evans and She was a part of the well-survival and story goes she's 13 years old and a meeting very much like this and She gets up in front of this whole it would just be as one of you just got up You stood up interrupted service and she said she couldn't hold it in any longer and she cried out I love Jesus with my whole heart and it is said in that moment the glory of God fell and it was the beginning of the Well-survival and we just believe that's our that's our little revivalist. She's beautiful I'm wrecked my girl dad like holding back tears as we speak Was it any of you been able were you able to come to our Orlando send event anyone other than Josh?

Okay, how do you again? How many of you have heard about the sand? Okay, that's good for those of you who haven't the sand really the storylines started in 2000 a guy named Lou angle you guys Hello, is you know, okay? I've been with Lou.

I've spent so much time I feel like I could preach his messages We've been on the road with him and that dude He is like we'd be like driving through Florida and losing the backseat like just doing a while Dude, I'm gonna get some Taco Bell Excuse me and so starting 2000 Lou angle he let a ministry called the call and the call was known for 18 years calling young people to Pray and fast and arenas and stadiums believing for revival in America and a word was brought to Lou in 2013 He calls in the dwarfs the YWAM dwarfs that showed up and kind of ruined his life And they gave him a prophetic word and they said out Lou there's a transition coming to the call It's not just gonna be prayer and fasting but the proclamation of the gospel signs wonders miracles and the mantle of Billy Graham is gonna fall in a generation And so this kind of inaugurated the send we did a gathering in LA the LA call the same with 75,000 people called us using now in 2016 and there was a moment in the stadium where the whole stadium 75,000 people have their shoes lived in the air as a declaration saying We'll go anywhere for the gospel and in 2019 We have the first send event at camping world stadium in Orlando, Florida 58,000 people and And it was an incredible day the miracles that broke out the people saying yes to foster care and adoption We did Orlando we moved to Brazil. This is so crazy. If you haven't heard the story. We did Brazil.

We we got our first stadium We're so excited. We opened up registration posted an Instagram deal in six hours the stadium sold out stadium calls us as hey This is the fastest sellout we've ever had like who had before us cold play in YouTube Come on, it's time that Jesus sells out stadiums faster than the best artists of our day So what do we do like okay? Well, it's gonna second stadium. Maybe not as big We get another stadium 45,000 people sells out in 24 hours We look again.

Oh my gosh. What are we gonna do? There's no more stadiums in the city? So we look at the capital of Brasilia and we rent one more stadium It doesn't end up selling out but it fills up to about 50,000 people hundred and fifty five thousand people one day across three stadiums Making a declaration that they will go anywhere and do anything for the sake of the gospel So now we have our eyes set on Kansas City you can put up the slide We've our eyes set on Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium on May 14th believing that it's our nation's time for another Jesus people movement I was born in 1995.

It means I'm 26 years old and I have yet to have in my generation a move of God like that I've yet to have my generation's gospel movement. I've yet to have my generation's Brownsville I've yet to have my generation's move of the Holy Spirit I am jealous from move of the Holy Spirit in my generation This is what we're believing for on May 14th There'll be a tipping point of action for our generation saying yes to foster care and adoption saying yes to our neighborhoods saying yes The high school campuses every high school campus saturated with the gospel university campus is becoming houses a prayer What could we believe for in America nations the earth? We can wipe away unreached ungaged from our vocabulary? I've done it not that bad most of you you guys you guys are coming you know We've done like you know as long as you got all-wheel drive you should be cherry So please come join us for the day It's going to be amazing one of the things that my wife and I get the privilege of doing Kona is we get to work with young people We get to work specifically with high school students and I never had a dream to be in youth ministry. I kind of I did youth ministry I left youth ministry and I was like that's I'm okay with that and somehow through God's trickery Jehovah's Niki still doing youth ministry and So we launched a summer camp this last year and I never let a summer camp before none of my team had ever done a summer camp Before we had one girl who was like she's like yeah, I did some stuff in an I-hop camp We don't really know what she did at I-hop with their camp. Maybe she attended. I don't know but she's on the team.

We're like perfect you do it and So we did our first one hundred fifty two students. We had every single major Hawaiian Island represented 50% of our demographic was local Hawaiians which for us was a really big deal We had about eight different churches that came together from Atlanta from Oregon From all the different Hawaiian Islands, but I want to share a story that happened on the first night of our camp And I'll explain why after I show this video, but I want to give us faith I want to start our night off with a like jolt of faith for what God is doing in this generation And what he wants to do through you and what he wants to do through me And so we had the 17 year old kid his name was Jimmy and you know I want to preface the video because it happens really fast but he had a vocal condition and the vocal conditions doctor said basically There's nothing we can do for you and and you'll hear it in a second You'll understand but basically for 17 years dealing with insecurity loneliness getting made fun of all of these things and God needs Him in one moment at our campus summer and I want to play this video really quick I was in a worship night during commission city summer camp and I was really just sitting there soaking worship And I got rid of more that I had a common feel that night when I first say so clearly Jimmy Don't speak the rest of the services really really awkward I was in and the second was just I came on and I started singing and all the study My voice from four really changed about a week ago and I was in shock I got up on stage last year as a guy I think I got you on the answer and I said I don't know what happened in the entire room You were up there in June. I was telling you I was like every new fact that was a game test going every new minute was I'm not a people who cared about me because I wasn't having to but just over those years I just felt the friendship of the Lord so strongly I knew it was like to be intimate with Jesus and knew it was like to have nothing on the voice I have to be honest with you I was in June. You're all guys.

You're so strongly just like it says in June. You're going to be a mentor on whatever it is I Remember just working at it. I was so tight. I'm really my heart just not so overwhelmed for this Just burning the soul from the high school so I started getting hit with reality that shoot I'm gonna be going back to school everyone over my little satellite and now I have a story and the only explanation What happened is I'm miracle working about it I'm not happy to use a miracle there's no I know happens to be some power God to assess so This urgency for my eyes so I cannot be and compromise any other I cannot say from places Any longer because my eyes will be in my eyes so I have a voice to reach and stop this burden on matters I need to go.

I need to go and say so many visions so many Come on I Refuse to believe the headlines of our day. I refuse to believe that Gen Z is too far gone I just I refuse to believe that it's like too hard too dark what that should even be in our vocabulary God is moving in this generation and he's moving in power and this is just a testimony right testimony That is the spirit of prophecy means do it again And I just have faith man. You need healing in your body. You need a miracle in your life God wants to meet you He wants to heal your body.

He wants to heal your situation your family your marriage whatever it is He is a miracle working God. Are you search with faith? Okay, should we get it should we get into the word now? Okay?

Okay You guys got your bibles? Okay, good. It's your church Should okay open up to acts 20 verse 22. I'll have it up here for the pagans that didn't bring their Bible to church I'm just kidding.

I'm kidding. It's on your phone in now so this is Paul in the middle. I think it's a second missionary journey and He's about to move to a new city is is and now compelled by the spirit. I'm going to Jerusalem Not knowing what will happen to me there I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me how awful Think about that every city he goes to prison Paul hardship Paul suffering Paul be really hard to be obedient to Jesus However, I love his resolve.

I consider my life worth nothing to me My only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace Tonight we're gonna talk about what it looks like to fully surrender your life to Jesus You see surrender what do you guys think of when you think of surrender? When I think of surrender knows I was praying over this message and asking the Lord I got a picture of how many of you do cartoons Saturdays anybody cartoon Saturdays raise God I'm a one. How do you get any Tom and Jerry fans? So I tried this in the first service.

I got pulled aside out there. It was told I was wrong first service I thought Tom and Jerry were the like the two the two mice deals Okay, I'm here. I'm changing. Okay found out Tom's the cat Tom cat my wife enlightened me to that one and and Jerry is the mouse but kind of how how What I was doing is just picture me okay picture Jeff in a coffee shop.

I haven't had coffee in a week and I just jolt back like two cups of coffee of like just give me the strongest thing you got and I'm like pennies I'm like pennies. All right. It's pretty good. It's the closest thing we got to where my wife lives or family lives So I'm in there and I promise you I'm like I'm like shaking I mean coffee I mean it's like the first time I've touched caffeine in a week and I'm just like you know and I'm like sitting there I'm like looking at me like thinking I'm crazy.

I'm like sweating bullets. It's like 20 degrees outside, right? And I'm like sweating bullets and I'm watching YouTube videos of Tom and Jerry like who is this crazy person? But I'm watching this Tom and Jerry episode from it's like a clip from from 1950 and you know how it is like Tom and Jerry It's like it's like you know left foot right hook, you know They're kind of going back and forth sparring a little bit kind of there's always like another clever thing You know somehow the candle that Tom's tail on fire like there's always something crazy happening There's just constantly like fighting back and forth and there's this moment in the clip where like you know Little Jerry like little jerry like little jerry.

That's what I call it if Tom and Jerry was today It'd be like it'd be like little Jerry like little Jerry I'm just a little Jerry, you know little Jerry just gives him like a combo like one two But you know and Tom just goes flying back into a China cabinet and he gets like covered You know all this like you know fine China and you can't see Tom anymore But all you see is he points up any waves this white flag He's just like I give up I surrender And as I was to say this is like the picture that I got is I was preparing this message for you guys Is this is what it looks like to fully surrender your life to Jesus? Saying I have nothing left in me. I have no more strength no more dignity no more fight left in me I have nothing else to give I give up. I'm waving my white flag of surrender And I even say it like this.

It's you think about a war right where there's real death and And someone to surrender is basically saying I would rather have you have control of my my life than die Like I'm surrendering because you controlling my life sounds a lot better than death And this is the biblical concept the idea of surrendering unto God I give up I have no more fight inside of me. I have nothing else that I can give I want you to have full reign and full control over my life Should go to the dictionary we should go to the dictionary Webster's praise God for Webster's To yield to the power This is the definition of surrender to yield to the power control or possession of another upon compulsion or demand to give up completely That's key to give up completely or agree To forgo especially in favor of another To give oneself up into the power of another especially as a prisoner in the last one says this It means to give oneself over to something such as influence I don't know if you've ever watched like any of those crazy, you know like demon possession movies. I hope not I've seen the stuff in real life and there's a story when I was in high school I was I got to say about 16 years old. I say by an atheist long story.

I'm serious. I promise I say by an atheist. I got to lead him to the Lord here later, which is awesome And I can say from 16 years old kind of around like crazy evangelist guys like our idea of like a nice Friday night Was like let's go to Walmart pray for the sick whoever can get the craziest thing to come home with them You win like you got a crush you got a wheelchair you got a cast like there's a competition We remember the first time we went to go see a man of steel you know the movie Superman movie It's like the gospel come on. Tell me like I guess it's like this father-in-some nebulous universe sends it son to earth It's like safe humanity familiar Like come on So we're like sitting there front row jacked up on Red Bull on the Holy Ghost We sent out Red Bull in we're still in the sanctification process still am and We get up we open air preach the gospel we see people can say you people like cussing us out People are like threatened to like knife us like it's a whole ordeal pretty crazy These are the kind of guys I got saved around so we were like going into my senior year There was a mission trip at my private Christian school if you know anything about private Christian schools, you know They're private sometimes not very Christian So we were like the three musketeers my best friend Jonah in our friend August and we just do everything together We're rolling around one time and we're getting ready for this You know this Mexico mission trip and every all of our senior class is just like dogging honest You guys are here at takes because like this is a one-jama car through deal that are like apologetics professor taught You're like you guys believe in the gifts they've ceased, you know We're like arguing like you believe in God like why we have this argument and so we're we're going in we go to the senior mission trip And our senior class is there and it's amazing the power of God's breaking out and our class is a little like this is crazy The last night we get to the last night and the power of God is breaking out like people are just laid out everywhere I mean it is like Holy Ghost pandemonium and This the captain of the football team comes up to me shaking into the power of God and he says Jeff I want what you guys have we lay hands on him he goes out of the power of God and he just starts repenting for all of his sin He gets up from his encounter.

He says Jeff I think I just heard the voice of God I'm like what did he say and he got word of knowledge for one of our other classmates one of our senior classmates probably the most popular kid in our school at the time and he gets his word He was still struggling with some sort of sin something going on and so he gives this word in front of our whole class And this guy's work in the guy like he's like yeah, that's totally me We're like okay, you know This guy's name is Chase like okay put your hand on him and he puts his hand on this guy his eyes rolled to the back of his head He falls out and is back begins to arch and he speaks out in a completely different voice Totally completely possessed by demonic power He was being influenced by something where he no longer had control of his body You see whether you like it or not you're being influenced either by God or something else You are being influenced like no no no I lead my own life guess what you're being influenced by demonic spirit It's the spirit of the age because we're in 2021 right we believe my truth is my truth. I'm gonna live my life I'm gonna do my thing. I know it's best for me. I'm gonna define truth You are influenced either fully by demonic spirit the spirit of the age or you're fully influenced by God saying take over every single Part of me This is what it means to wave the white flag of surrender.

I give up control have full influence in my life Alright, let's look at the Bible. We're gonna go through a few verses you guys doing okay, okay? Matthew 10 37 through 39 anyone it'll be up on the screen for you anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me Anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me Whoever finds their life will lose it and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it I don't know about you, but I want to live a life. It's worthy of Jesus But he lays it out very clearly here if you love anything more than him You're not worthy of him if you're not fully surrendered to him.

You're not worthy of him. That's cutthroat stuff That's like that's like savage 9000 Now if you 16 24 through 26 Jesus kind of states the same thing again whoever wants to be my disciple who wants to be a disciple of Jesus It's why your church You must deny yourself pick up your cross and follow me For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it What good will it be for somebody to gain the whole world yet for fit or soul or what can anyone give an exchange for? Their soul and last first Galatians 524 those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and its desires Guys, this is cut throat truth for 2021 because we live in a society. This is all about defining its own truth We live in a society that I mean it is too hard for me to like I'm gonna define myself I'll define myself I'll tell you who I am guess what when you're in the family of God You don't get that luxury, but praise God We don't get that luxury because I'd rather have the one who created me to find me rather than someone me who's had horrible life Experiences super emotional try to define myself.

I don't want my emotions to define my truth I want truth to define my truth that only comes with a life. That's wholeheartedly surrender to Jesus I'm giving up. I'm giving up leading my own life. I'm throwing in the towel The biblical concept of surrender looks like giving up your rights that is offensive stuff That means you don't have the right to get offended anymore Hey, guess what you don't have the right to your own money You don't have the right to your time if you're going to live the biblical way the way of Jesus You have given up your rights to comfort you have given up your rights to living your life the way you see fit You've given up the right to have the American dream, but guess what you said yes to the God dream I don't know about you the American dream sometimes it sounds awesome white picket fence couple of cars nice 401k I got crushed it on crypto this year.

I'm getting the NFT market. I'm making my own NFTs like I'm doing my thing Right the American dream. It can look so sexy But it fails in comparison to the God dream Oh, we get to have him Matthew 633 seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and guess what I don't have to worry about everything else I read a couple quotes. It's so savage like just the term lip service like like you know He's like he's like say hello to my little friend, you know like he's about to throw some bullets lip service to God doesn't change lives or nations Owning a Bible that we never read won't change us either It takes reading the Bible obey God by the power of his Holy Spirit as we obey him and his word we grow in character God's word becomes part of us the standard of all of our lives. This is what changes a nation You will never see transformation in your life if you do not fully surrender yourself to Christ You won't overcome the sin that you keep struggling with Your marriage will not be restored your family your kids Unless you are fully submitted to the man Jesus white flag in hand I don't want to lead my life anymore. God. You're a better leader than me lead my family lead my kids Lead me to overcome this area of sin God.

I surrender it all So many of you you're like 12 step program This is how I you know I got to get free from this sin or this thing submit your life to Christ Apply the Bible to your life every single page every word every comma every period you apply this to your life And that's how nations get changed. I don't know you but I want to see cities radically transformed by the power of the gospel I want to see Minneapolis rocked with a gospel movement. I want to see who I rock to the gospel movement I want to see that this nation America rock for the gospel movement I want to see too hard too dark unreached unengaged removed from our vocabulary that does not happen with a good idea That does not happen with a good whiteboard session that comes with a life that is fully submitted to Christ and you let him work Through you you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem today a Samaria into the end of the earth You'll receive power when the Holy Spirit comes as an axe one eight You'll receive power when the Holy Spirit comes and you will be my witnesses We get out of the way and God can move through us He left so he could put his Holy Spirit in us and we could be agents of change everywhere we go You are his plan But you in control of your life is not his plan him control of your life is his plan I love this. I'm gonna do more quotes this Brian Brent is a hero of mine a mentor of mine We miss him dearly But I love this when he talks about surrender this is in his book a culture shift And he says when you sacrifice your free will to decide you sacrifice your free will to make your own decisions and fully pursue the heart of Christ You offer one of the most powerful expressions of worship You see this is I was doing some studying and diving into this message.

This is what rocked me more than anything The why behind surrender because at the end of the day, right if we believe this is truth, right? We have to do it. It says I mean, it's just it's matter of fact If we believe that this is the word of God then we have to apply and believe every single word of the book But there's still the heart peace right? He's an intimate God and I just was my wife and I were just worshiping last night We're praying into this message and as we're praying one of the things I begin to I begin to read Psalm 84 And I just begin to worship I get to pray out I surrender because better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere I Surrender my life Jesus because you're beautiful.

I surrender my life. I can live like Paul I haven't considered my life. I consider my life worth nothing to me Because it's his my life is not my own anymore because I love him. I want him Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere I'd rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my god than dwell in the tents the wicked I surrender because I want him I surrender because I've caught in the little bit of a glimpse.

I've tasted and I've seen his goodness I've seen how he's provided. I've seen how he's healed. I've seen how he's restored and he's brought addicts out of addiction I've watched it with my own eyes. I surrender my life because he's beautiful I surrender my life because the one thing I desire this I ask is to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord all the days of my life That I may inquire in his temple.

I surrender my life because he's worth it We surrender because he first surrendered We love because he first loved us We can give away because he's the first one that gave everything away He is not asking us to do anything that he hasn't already paved the way for He's not asking you to surrender your life in some hope that this might be right. No, he's surrendered. He's like first He paved the way of the way of surrender You see the reward of our surrender is not wealth health and everything else the reward of us denying ourselves is that we get him as our reward Because sometimes we have this picture like man, I'm gonna surrender my life and I'm gonna get the ministry I'm gonna get the platform. I'm gonna get the promotion I'm gonna get blessed and we have this American idea this Western idea of what it looks like to surrender your life And what you think you'll get in return, but if I read our beloved Paul Hey Paul, I know you surrendered your life.

Just want you to know in your steps of obedience. You're going to get hardship You're going to get suffering. Hey, bro. You're gonna get shipwrecked That doesn't sound like wealth health and everything else that sounds like man.

There's a real cost That's because the reward is so much greater than the cost Call me it's not even a cost when you compare it to the reward It's not even I don't even consider it laying down my life. It's just I want him. I'll do whatever it takes See it's the beautiful exchange. We get him our reward and he gets us his reward You see it's an exchange Surrender is inward, but at the same time it's outward We were transformed by our surrender, but in return the world should be affected by our life surrendered You see we join a hall of heroes that have gone before us the cloud of witnesses cheering us on who lived in a whole Hearted faith filled surrender and changed the world You see yes, it transforms us yes, we get him and I know so many of you you want your life to mean something Your life won't mean anything you trying to lead your own life But I promise you when you fully surrender your life to God you get plopped into the greatest storyline of all of time The story of God Abraham Moses David Peter Paul Martin Luther the Moravians right her monkey These are the ones that are cheering us on when we say yes to a life surrendered we jump into this story Band you can come up.

So we go back to our text acts 20 22 to 24 now Compelled by the spirit. I'm going to Jerusalem Not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me Can I just speak? It's not even prophetically.

It's just look at the times that we live in You saying yes to Jesus is going to cost you something we saw in the last year It just cost you gathering and there was a real cost You see as we get closer and closer to his return is gonna keep ramping up ramping up more persecution more suffering Like this is this is scriptural like Bible as we get closer to the end the harder it's gonna get So I just want to tell you tonight that you surrender your life to God is not peaches and cream the whole time There's a real cost. Here's a real cost following Jesus. I have friends in Southeast Asia and prison for their faith killed for their faith Beaten for their faith had one brother who was poisoned because of his faith There's a cost of following Jesus. I think of my friend Dan Bauman who's imprisoned in Iran for Some time and it's like the happiest guy I've ever met because his eyes weren't fixed on the cost His eyes were fixed on the man.

I remember when I saw my wife the first time There was no cost. I would not pay to make sure that women spent the rest of her life with me Love will make you do a crazy thing. I want him. I'll name the price.

I'll pay it any price. I'll pay it You say where and I'll go you say what and I'll do it. I'm love sick. I'm a love sick.

I want you I'm too tired. I'm too tired trying to lead my life. I'm too tired trying to make the right decision all the time I'm too. I'm just it's exhausting.

It fills me with anxiety Trying to make sure that I just can get right all the time. I just want you. I just take it all take it all Take take my house Think my car sign it over like take here's my wallet Here's my kids have them. Here's my my marriage.

I can't I'm just I can't do it. I need you to lead me This is the prayer that we need to pray as we go and progress in the times that we're living in I just want him We're not gonna see the persecution. We're not gonna. It's just not even gonna it won't even catch our eye I could like I just see him Steven.

I'll close with this. Please stand close with this story And we're gonna go into worship. I knew we started a little bit later. So she got to go you can go I feel like we're about to enter in a moment of response, but I think of the story of Stephen in the Bible That's a lose his life for the gospel beaten midst of suffering You don't hear a lot about that.

It says that he looked up and he saw the man Persecution didn't matter. It's about to lose his life didn't matter because he saw the man when we see the man There's no price that we wouldn't pay So here's the response that I feel we have tonight. I just believe there's a fresh revelation of the man Jesus tonight There's a fresh revelation that he is the lily of the valleys He is the rose of Sharon. He's beautiful.

He's lovely. He's perfect. He's other than he's different He's unrivaled. He's a good father.

He's a good friend. He's a good brother. He's a good leader He's a good God And he's longing to reveal himself to you and I just believe tonight.
