(NIV) 4 Truths About Surrender 1. Surrender is a test Genesis 22:1–2 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. 2  Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” (NIV) 2. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.” (NIV) Genesis 22:15-18 The angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time 16  and said, “I swear by myself, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17  I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, 18  and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.” (NIV) Malachi 3:10–11 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. 11  I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the LORD Almighty. (NIV) 4 Reasons People Don’t Surrender The Tithe 1. It’s under the law  Genesis 14:20 And praise be to God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
