Surviving a quarterlife crisis + finally being on the big screen (with actor Shirley Chen)
from Wait, Say More with Eric Cheng · host Eric Cheng
EPISODE 1 IS HERE! Please welcome my good friend/”lil sis” miss SHIRLEY CHEN— actor + artist and STAR of DIDI, a 2000s coming-of-age comedy for anyone who’s ever been a teenager OUT NOW IN THEATERS EVERYWHERE. In this episode, I talk with Shirley about what it is like to finally have her big break (or is it🤔?) after being an actor for 10 years—that’s right, she was one of those “child actors” as they say. She discusses finally letting go of crazy expectations, getting her childhood dream (werk), and embracing the wild uncertainty of this career path that can f*ck you up (my words, not hers). She also gets into her post-college-grad crisis / adulting struggles (RELATABLE!) and how she got to a better place, one place being on the freaking big screen wherever you are. WATCH THIS MOVIE. IT IS SO GOOD, better than “the challengers” imo, but do not come for me. I love her and I think you will love her too. With her whimsical spirit and profound insight alike, she will have you hehe-ing but also saying.. no, so true.
