I once felt like I had let down everyone in my life. I felt rejected and completely alone. The ONLY thing that motivated me to keep on living some nights was my daughter. I became a college dropout. I once believed that my less than ideal circumstances defined the course for my future. I was scared to stand out. A people pleaser. I have dated some fine ass brothas in my time on earth ...probably too many, depending on who you ask. In my promiscuity, I was looking for “new love” to validate me- instead of validating myself with self-love. I used to work hard because I felt I had something to prove to all of those who gave up on me. I used to live my life by doing what was “safe” because I felt like the least I could offer my daughter was, stability. I now know that the true definition of that is “settling”. Little by little, I started dipping my toe into the shallow waters of self-discovery. Before I knew it, I was boldly diving in, head first, exploring the depths of my spirit and falling madly in love with all the pieces of me. Nowadays, I work harder than ever. I work hard because I’m fueled by purpose and chasing my vision with every ounce of my being. I rock a bald fade, big hoop earrings, false lashes and stilettos. And damn right, I love my individuality. Turns out, when I operated in my authenticity, I attracted my heart’s match – a man who loves me like I’d never known love before. He calls me wife and treats me as Queen. No one creates change by doing what is safe. Call me erratic, insane, or just plain crazy. You may be right....
