Surviving In Egypt (Life of Joseph) No. 9- Serving in Egypt

They say everyone dreams—some people remember them, some don’t. Some dreams are frightening, some bizarre, some pleasant. Science tells us dreams help us process reality, symbolically working through our fears, desires, and experiences. But in Joseph’s time, every culture viewed dreams as a direct connection to the supernatural. They were considered gifts from the gods, glimpses into the future, and Scripture shows us many moments where God used them to speak. But today, I don’t want us to focus on dreams themselves. I want us to focus on what Egypt did in Joseph—how it shaped him into a humble servant. Egypt gave him the maturity, the heart, the mind, and the opportunities to serve God and others with selfless humility. His time in Egypt wasn’t just suffering; it was preparation. That’s our focus this week: how surviving in Egypt prepares us to serve God effectively. Joseph’s story shows us that humility isn’t born in comfort—it’s forged in the places we never would’ve chosen, but where God does His deepest work.
