Susan was home schooled and received very little information about sex from her parents. She thought that sex seemed "gross" and couldn't understand why anybody would do that willingly. She was brought up in what she calls a "purity culture" - not only is there no sex, but the first kiss is to be at the altar on your wedding day. Susan talks about how she eventually moved away from that and yet still deals with the aftereffects from it.
