Susan Perry started Susie’s Coats in 2006, on her 50th birthday. There was nothing that she wanted or needed, and made the decision that she’d like to collect 50 coats to distribute to those in need. Susan and her daughter held that initiative in downtown Toledo and realized there was more of a significant need.Each year the project has gotten bigger and bigger; more people donating and more people in need. In 2012, the community donated more than 700 items like coats, gloves and hats. Susie’s Coats is asking for the community’s support. There is a desperate need for men and women’s sizes extra large and above and additional hats, coats, scarves and gloves. You can help us this year!Susie’s Coats is now taking donations of new or gently used winter items.
