Suspense: The Pasteboard Box (Joseph Cotten) (01-17-1945)

A man named Jack stages his own suicide and impersonates his twin brother Walter after murdering him, hoping to inherit Walter’s life and money without suspicion. But a series of eerie mistakes, especially involving a pasteboard box that keeps reappearing, slowly unravel his plan. As Jack tries to cover up the murder and build Walter’s identity, he discovers the body has already been found and the police suspect Walter of killing his fiancée. In the end, Jack’s attempt to outsmart everyone collapses into a final twist: the “head” he thought would prove his story is actually just a goldfish bowl, leaving the true fate of Walter unknown.
