Sustainable Plastic – The Next Generation on The Green Insider

from The Green Insider Powered by eRENEWABLE

Today we heard from Principal and Founder, Kelly Knopp from Citroniq Chemicals.  On episode 205, learn about the next generation of plastic and the development of sustainable plastic carbon credits on “The Green Insider.”  Kelly discusses their new project using polypropylene as a viable solution to meet their growing demand for sustainable materials. Made from a sustainable biogenic feedstock using renewable energy, Citroniq’s green carbon-negative polypropylene permanently sequesters CO2 in a useful plastic pellet. He goes on to discuss their collaboration with Lummus creating the first world-scale sustainable bio-polypropylene production process in North America.  Their first location will sequester about 1.2 MM tons of CO2 annually as solid polypropylene pellets, providing customers with an impactful solution for reducing their carbon footprint and meeting their ESG goals.  More about Kelly Knopp With over 40 years of experience in the Energy and Petrochemicals sectors, Mr. Knopp founded Citroniq Chemicals in 2020 to move these industries towards more sustainable and environmentally responsible operations.  In a little over 3 years, Citroniq has developed a $5 billion investment plan to reduce CO2 emissions by over 8 million tons per year.  Knopp has extensive experience in Marketing & Sales and Business Development, in addition to direct experience in Plant Operations, Engineering and Project Execution.  He has worked for Phillips 66, Koch Industries, Williams Energy and NOVA Chemicals.  He has a B.S.
