Wie sehr das heutige Thema der Gesellschaft auf den Nägeln und sonstwo brennt: Das verrät allein schon der Blick ins Vorabend-Werbeprogramm. Wo die Ratiopharm Zwillinge kaum etwas anderes umtreibt. Oder wo der kleine Junge fortwährend erzählt, dass es mit Oma ja keinen Spaß macht, wenn Oma Schmerzen hat. Und dann wird suggeriert: Wenn Oma oder auch die notorischen Zwillinge sich nur genügend praktischerweise rezeptfrei zu erwerbende Pillen einwerfen, dann wird das schon. Schmerzmittel, so scheint's, sind heute fast sowas wie ein Lifestyle Produkt geworden, das man wie Gummibärchen konsumiert. Ob diese Wohlfühl-Produkte aus der Werbung tatsächlich helfen - das steht auf einem anderen Beipackzettel. Denn: Es gibt noch viel zu viele Patienten, die ihre Schmerzen schier in die Verzweiflung treiben - und denen eben nicht so einfach geholfen werden kann. Wie man den Schmerz WIRKLICH loswerden kann und was wirklich hilft - das weiß kaum einer so gut wie der Schmerztherapeut und Palliativmediziner Prof. Dr. Sven Gottschling. Er ist Chefarzt am Zentrum für Palliativmedizin und Kinderschmerztherapie des Uniklinikums in Homburg.
