SWEDEN. Current political, economic and foreign policy situation

from Podcast de PANGEA

Have you ever wondered how life is going all over Sweden? This Scandinavian country is governed since 2006 by the Conservative alliance lead by the Moderate Party. In 2010 Fredrik Reinfeldt, the current Prime Minister, repeated victory over a Social Democratic Party which is trying to reinventing itself. In addition, the last elections brought a new parliamentary stage where the controversial Swedish Democrats got representation for the first time in its life. ????????? Fredrik Reinfeldt, Swedish Prime Minister / Primer Ministro sueco (Ett hjärta RÖTT) ? Member of the European Union and out of the Eurogroup, Sweden is dealing with a good economic situation, in comparison with its surrounding countries, after living a banking crisis in the early 90's. Focused on how the single currency, the euro, is going on because of the several trades with the Eurozone countries, this Kingdom still follows the dream of its well-known Welfare system, though reality has modified its original sense. The relationships of Sweden with the rest of the Nordic countries are taking more shape, even if it seems that further purposes of strong collaboration are long-term answers. The euroscepticism is declining little by little and new generations feels their country as part of the EU and not as two completely different entities. FERNANDO GUTIÉRREZ CHICO analyzes the current political, economic and foreing policy situation in Sweden with the good assistance of Hans Löden, Associate Professor of Political Science in Karlstad University.
