Sweet Cielia
from Poetry by Tim Windisch · host Tim Windisch
Sweet Cielia Arms spread wide drowning in a jersey of gold Drove all night north, we were maybe 19 years old He was not everything you’d dreamed Despite how he pretended it seemed I remember meeting someone there, but it went cold Distant days that never cease to amaze at the way they come around Lost in years of becoming something, but it’s nothing like what we found Love and laughter, friends in the great hereafter, reminisce myriad memorabilia Too many summer moons have circled around us my friend sweet Cielia But we had some wonderful youthful summers indelibly etched Inside my mind and I’m painting a picture with words I sketched Funnin’ flipping steaks fried for the tools Backyard Eddie’s place swimming pool Eating fried egg sandwiches C-Guy’s momma had fetched Further south but again a situation that never seemed to unfold Origami looked so pretty but crumbled when you tried to hold I have clumsy hands myself, missed too many connections so I feel ya’ It seems so nice to take a minute and remember days with my friend sweet Cielia The faces I see are not all still with us, but when I think of you they return Trading my spot in a tent for a film can of weed sitting watching a fire burn They tell me innocence is a slippery slope sometime And incense burns as the breeze blows the wind chime Days behind with those hied to Heaven can never be replaced you learn Distant days that never cease to amaze at the way they come around Lost in years of becoming something, but it’s nothing like what we found Love and laughter, friends in the great hereafter, reminisce myriad memorabilia Too many summer moons have circled around us my friend sweet Cielia Tim Windisch 06 10 2024
