Petrol prices in Sydney have risen 20 to 30 cents per litre this month, with unleaded now averaging $1.79 and diesel $2.19 across the city. The federal government's fuel excise discount is set to end on 3 August, which will push prices up another 16 cents per litre unless the discount is extended.
