Sydney Weather and Travel Update
from Wake Up Sydney
Wake Up Sydney – Thursday 20 August 2026 Johnny Rocket starts your Thursday with the latest Sydney weather, traffic, and train updates to help you plan the day ahead. It’s a crisp, partly cloudy morning across the city, with the Sydney CBD waking up to 11.8°C and heading for a top of 23°C. Parramatta starts cooler at 9.8°C, also reaching 23°C, while Bondi is already sitting at 13.8°C with a forecast high of 21°C. On the roads, drivers should watch for delays in Leichhardt, where a truck breakdown on Tebbutt Street at Hathern Street has closed southbound lanes. In Bexley, a two-car crash on Forest Road at Queen Victoria Street has closed westbound lanes, with traffic being diverted via Queen Victoria Street. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and follow directions from emergency services and Transport for NSW. For public transport users, Blue Mountains Line maintenance works continue through Friday 21 August. Buses are replacing trains between Lithgow and Mount Victoria, with some services towards Mount Victoria departing up to 15 minutes earlier than the usual train timetable. Trains are running between Mount Victoria and Central on a changed timetable, and Bathurst services are also affected. Elsewhere, the Sydney train network is running smoothly, making it a relatively steady morning for most commuters.
