Sydney’s Sunny Monday Start
from Wake Up Sydney
Wake Up Sydney with Johnny Rocket is here to brighten your Monday morning as Sydney steps into the final day of winter on 31 August 2026. Today’s update brings you the latest on the city’s weather, traffic and trains, helping you plan your commute and start the day with confidence. Sydney is waking to a cool but pleasant morning, with clouds expected to clear through the day. The CBD is sitting around 10.5°C before climbing to a top of 21°C, while Parramatta starts at 8.8°C and heads for a mostly sunny 23°C. Over at Bondi, it’s beginning at 12.5°C, with a top of 20°C as conditions brighten. Don’t forget the sunscreen around the middle of the day, with UV levels reaching moderate. On the roads, Johnny has two key incidents to keep in mind. At Kurrajong Heights, a truck breakdown on Bells Line of Road near Pinedale Place is impacting both directions, with alternating stop-slow traffic control in place. Meanwhile, at Kings Langley, a two-car crash on Sunnyholt Road just past Vardys Road has closed one northbound lane, with emergency services attending the scene. For train travellers, it’s a relatively smooth start to the week, with no major disruptions reported across the Sydney network. Passengers are advised to take extra care at stations including Bexley North, Kingsgrove and Lisarow, where some platform-edge warning tactiles are missing while repairs are organised. All in all, it’s a crisp, clearing and cautiously optimistic Monday across Sydney — trains are running well, the weather is improving, and there are just a couple of road delays to factor into your morning commute. Tune in to Wake Up Sydney for the essentials before you head out the door.
