Symbol of Faith: Part 6 - Fr. Gregory - August 7, 2022
from Holy Trinity + Holy Cross - Sermons · host Holy Trinity + Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral
In today's Gospel, taken from Matthew 14:14-22, Jesus has compassion on a gathering of people, healing their sick and feeding five thousand men with five loaves and two fish. Jesus' miracle in the wilderness, is the fulfillment of a prophecy from Ezekiel, where God provides for His people. The gathering of God's people or Ekklesia is foreshadowed many times in the Old Testament. Father Gregory continues his sermon series, A Symbol of Faith, emphasizing the Creed's Biblical truth. The article preached on today is, "In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church." The Church is one, unified, and Holy declares Saint Paul in Ephesians. It is catholic, meaning universal and complete lacking nothing to experience communion with God. Saint Paul writes the Church is the pillar of truth in I Timothy. The Church is apostolic, sent with a mission to bring all people into the assembly. In the Church, we must assemble, be fed and healed by Jesus, and fulfill our calling to be saints the days before worship on Sundays.
