Aneel chats with Jon D. Morrow, M.D., M.B.A. about the relatively new concept of synthetic data, which involves using information from real patients who in the aggregate mimic the original population. Morrow is Senior VP and Physician Executive at MDClone, where he leads medical affairs activities for the North American market. A medical informaticist and board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, Morrow has more than 25 years' experience in academic medicine and healthcare technology. With the information gleaned from synthetic patients, you can  draw conclusions that would you would not be able to reach within HIPPA constrictions, notes Morrow. These synthetics patients and data, which can be shared with other providers without violating patient privacy, can help facilitate research discover patterns relating to health conditions and assist clinicians to better treat patients, according to Morrow.
