Syracuse's Wide Open Receiver Room | Syracuse Orangemen Football News

Syracuse’s offense is in chaos as the program loses key talent at running back and wide receiver, forcing a massive rebuild. With Yasin Willis and Will Nixon gone, Tylik Hill returns but can’t carry the load alone—enter Ahmad Miller (1,000+ yards at Jackson State) and Ju’juan Johnson (LSU breakout). At receiver, Darrell Gill Jr. and Johntay Cook bolted to Ole Miss, leaving just three returning options who combined for 20 catches last year. And disaster strikes again: top recruit Calvin Russell III tore his Achilles in spring practice, with no clear return date. To fill the void, Syracuse brought in four new receivers—Zamondre Merriweather, Cole Weaver, Matt Outten, and Elijah Moore—all former elite recruits with unproven production. Coach Fran Brown, known for his transfer portal savvy, now faces his toughest challenge yet: turning this wide-open roster into a scoring machine. Who steps up? The pressure is on.
