Tackling LA's Homelessness Crisis with Nithya Raman

from Let's Get Dressed

Nithya Raman is an urban planner, activist, and Los Angeles Council Member for the 4th District. Nithya was born in India and moved to the US as a child, where she later went on to study at Harvard University and get her master’s degree in urban planning at MIT. She ran for office for the first time at 38-years-old with no prior political experience, passionate about solving Los Angeles’ homeless crisis. She beat the incumbent and received the most votes of any L.A. council member ever - running a grassroots, door-to-door campaign that galvanized Angelenos to get involved in local elections. In this episode, Nithya and I discuss how frustration helped her find her voice, the power of local elections, and her plans to help transform Los Angeles.    Follow Nithya on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/nithyaforthecity/ Follow Nithya on Twitter https://twitter.com/nithyavraman Learn more about Project Roomkey here https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/cdss-programs/housing-programs/project-roomkey Volunteer for the Hollywood Food Coalition here https://hofoco.org/volunteer/ Sponsored by Kin Euphorics: For 15% off and FREE shipping at kineuphorics.com/olivia Sponsored by Sakara: For 20% off your first order at sakara.com/FRIEND and enter code FRIEND at checkout   Produced by Dear MediaLet’s Get DressedYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@livvperezInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/letsgetdressedpod/Newsletter: https://substack.com/@livvperezLiv Perez Instagram: www.instagram.com/livvperezTikTok: www.tiktok.com/livv.perezShopMy: https://shopmy.us/livvperez Hosted on Acast. Wounded Warriors of the Cross Gary Pastoral and clergy mental health is a mostly ignored area, especially by those who live their lives as pastors in the clergy. The stigma of mental health within those who serve in the shadow of the cross is something that invokes the stigma of fear. Many of those in the clergy will choose to suffer in their despair rather than reaching out for help. Sometimes those suffering choose to wait until it's too late to get the real help that they need. At Wounded Warriors of the Cross our mission is to lift the stigma and the veil of silence that encompasses clergy mental health and assist those who suffer in silence. Wounded Warriors of the Cross is here to shed the light of Christ's love into those dark places.
