Tackling Money Blocks: A Guide for Fashion Photographers

from The Fashion Photography Show · host Olivia Bossert

In this episode of The Fashion Photography Show, I’m diving into the all-important topic of money blocks and how they impact us as fashion photographers. We'll explore those pesky psychological barriers that hold us back from financial success and chat about practical steps to overcome them. This is the first episode in our new series focused on money mindset and financial strategies for us creatives. Introduction to Money Blocks: Today, I’m talking about money blocks – those subconscious mental roadblocks that stop us from attracting, managing, or keeping money in a positive way. It’s not about not being good with numbers; it’s about those underlying negative beliefs that we carry without even realizing it. Common Money Blocks: Some of the common money blocks we’ll cover include: These beliefs often come from family, media, friends, and cultural influences. We’ll unpack how they form and stick with us. Personal Experience: I’ll share a bit of my own story, like how I believed for years that women didn’t make money and how that affected my career. It’s all about recognizing and challenging these beliefs to move past them. Practical Steps to Overcome Money Blocks: Awareness: Start by writing down your current beliefs about money and really questioning them. Reframe Beliefs: Turn those negative beliefs into positive affirmations. Consistent Reinforcement: Make it a habit to revisit and reinforce these positive money beliefs daily. Positive Money Mindset: We’ll also talk about the good money beliefs you might already have and how to reinforce them. When you have a positive money mindset, everything changes – from asking for what you’re worth to attracting the kind of work you want. Actionable Exercise: Grab a pen and paper, pause the episode if you need to, and jot down your money beliefs. Let’s challenge and reframe them together.
