5일 오전 8시 24분 여수 오동도 방파제로 피항한 여객선 미남크루즈호가 태풍 ‘차바’로 인한 강한 돌풍으로 좌초됐다. 여수해양경비안전서는 좌초된 여객선 내에 있던 선원 6명을 구출해 이동하던 중 높은 파도에 휩쓸려 선원 2명과, 해경 구조대원 4명 해상으로 추락하는 사고가 발생했다. 그러나 해경 구조대의 침착한 대응으로 추락한 6명을 전원 구조했다.
