Welcome to the Tweed Trends Podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I mean that's pay girl and you are tuned in to Tweed Trends. It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today.

Hey guys, I don't know if you know this or not, but today is National Take a Chance Day. Ha ha, oh yeah, let's get started. This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

And while we're out rejoicing and being glad, why not break out of your comfort zone? Yes, because that's what today is all about. National Take a Chance Day is all about getting rid of those things that have been holding you back and doing the things that you've always wanted to do. Now, granted, this is the wrong time to decide that you've always wanted to go travel outside of the country.

Well, we know that's a bad idea, so don't go that far with it. But there are plenty of things that you can do right in your very own area that will speak to those things that your heart has always desired. As for me, like one thing in particular was learning to play the guitar. A guy bought me a guitar years and years and years ago.

I've been traveling around with his guitar and never knew how to play it. And I said, you know what, this is stupid. If I'm not going to learn to play the darn thing, then I need to sell it. I need to get rid of it.

But I really do want to learn to play it. Foreign non-blondes were like my group. And they inspired me, which is how I ended up getting the guitar and everything. Long story short, I finally did it.

I said, you know what, I'm going to take those lessons. And there are other things for me personally right now. I've got these ideas for books. And you know what, I'm not letting it hold me back anymore.

There was a time when I was concerned about what other people thought. And I wished I had not spent so many years worried about what other people thought about me and my decisions and my choices. And as a matter of fact, I went to a reunion. I'm not going to say which one, but went to this reunion, reconnected with a friend of mine.

And I noticed her eye makeup. It was awful, in my opinion. It was absolutely just did not look good at all. But in that interaction, I realized, you know what, she is awesome.

Because it didn't matter if I thought it was nice or not. She did it because she liked it. And then that gave me the confidence because I personally, I'm not a makeup person. I really don't wear it that much because I never felt like I knew how to apply it the proper way.

But guess what, there's no such thing as a proper way. You do what makes you feel good. You do your makeup. You wear your clothes.

All of that good stuff. It's up to you. What someone else thinks about you is none of your dog on business. So tagging on to that last little piece in that first segment, my first recommendation is to be your authentic self, unapologetically.

Just go out there and be who you want to be. Do what you want to do. If you choose to wear polka dots and plants together, you know what, rocket and rocket with the biggest smile on your face, be just as proud as you want to. Because to be honest, the high fashion stuff, when like fashion week rolls around, those types of things, they don't follow any type of rules.

There's no rules in any of this stuff. If I want to wear my cheetah print shirt with my zebra print pants and some alligator shoes, fake ones of course, you know, we don't hurt animals, I can do that. And as long as I feel good and confident, who cares what anybody else has to say? And honestly and truthfully, after you get out of that high school, middle school, that whole school range of being, because even on the college level now, well then again, you know what, I can't even say that.

Because children nowadays are very free with how they dress, what they do. My daughter will put together a mixture when it comes to her clothes. And I'm like, you know what, if she feels good about it, I got her back. I'd hear someone to say something to her.

And that's the whole thought process we should all have when we go out there in the world, as long as we're presenting our best selves out there, it doesn't matter how we dress it. It doesn't matter back to the makeup thing. It doesn't matter how we do it up your hair. It doesn't matter.

And you know what, speaking on the hair thing, for me hair was a big deal because I'm natural and there are still some styles I will not wear outside of the house. But that's my own personal preference. Other people do it and I'm like, man, they did that. You know, that looks nice.

I don't know that I can pull it off for myself, you know, not so much from what other people think because I'm at that age now where it's like, I got the whole grandma syndrome going on. Like, you know, I'm old enough, I don't earn the right to act a straight donkey wherever I go. I can say what I want to say. I can do what I want to do.

And dare somebody to say something to me. And honestly, there are very few bold people out there anyway that are going to call you on your mess. Even your friends won't call you on your mess. So to say that you have an outfit that somebody doesn't like, you might get looks, there might be a snicker or two.

But if you like it, then baby, I love it. Go out there, be your authentic self today, unapologetically. My last recommendation for today's episode is to shoot your shot. Yes, I said it, shoot your shot.

Now wait a minute now, if you're married, then you don't get to shoot your shot. You go somewhere somewhere. But if you're a single and ready to mingle and all that, you got it going on like that, and you are looking for a new love, then by all means get out there and shoot your shot. If there is that guy or girl that you've been secretly crushing on, go ahead and say something.

What are you waiting for? Are you waiting for them to say it? Because there are, I will admit, I was this type of person where when I was in college, I did not understand when somebody was flirting with me. I didn't see it, I didn't recognize it, and undoubtedly I was flirting with everyone, and my friends were like, oh my gosh, you were such a big flirting.

I'm like, no, I'm just being nice. I'm not flirting with that person. But that's how they took it. But what it all boiled down to was I did not realize that people liked me, and so it's years down the line when they're like, oh man, I had the biggest crush on you, and I'm like, for real, why you didn't say anything?

And they're just like, no, I mean, I just couldn't, you know, oh, come on, you should have because nobody was checking for me. I was like, no, seriously, you should have. So I said all that to say that that person you're secretly crushing on, they might not even realize that you even act like you like them. They might think that you're just a nice person.

And they're just really cool to hang out with. They might not realize that you really want to hang out with them because you like them like that. So go ahead, shoot your shot. What can they say?

Oh, I'm sorry, I'm not interested. Okay. And now that we got that out of the way and clear the air, we can keep on keeping on. There's no room in life to be so crushed to the point that you can't be around that person anymore or whatever.

Like really? Do we do that nowadays? Do people still do that? Let them know how you feel and you never know how it may turn out.

Now once again, if that person that you're crushing on is married, back off babes. Nope, don't even do it. But if you know they're single or you know, maybe they just got out of a relationship and you're kind of trying to respect their space or whatever, come on man, just go ahead. Speak up, say what's on your mind and you never know.

May turn out to be a good thing. All right. Well, that was today's episode of Tweet Trends. And because it's National Take a Chance Day, I want to close out with this one quote from Mark Twain.

It reads, 20 years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowline, sail away from the safe harbor, catch the trade wins in your sales, explore, dream, discover. I'd like to throw an extra little piece in there. Follow me.

Yes, follow me on Twitter at he. That's at he. E.V. E.T.E.

Or just look for the hashtag tweet trends. Once again, guys, for National Take a Chance Day, how about do something? Take a chance. Yo, lo, yo.

Like for real, let's get out there and do something. Now, granted, don't go all crazy with it. You still got to practice your social distancing and, you know, all that good stuff. Be smart.

Be safe. Have a great weekend. And I'll see you back here on Tuesday. Bye.
