Take Control of Your DNA! — Dr. J Dunn

from Younger with Dr. Robyn Benson

Key Takeaways: How did Dr. J get involved in medicine? Despite having a lot of tools in the bag, some of Dr. J's clients just weren't getting better. When Dr. J did a genetics test on herself, so many things just clicked for her and she got answers as to why her body was lacking in certain nutrients. Dr. J suffered from depression throughout her life and when she finally understood her DNA and her imbalances, she experienced natural happiness for the first time. Dr. J no longer gets her patients to go on detox. Instead, by understanding someone's genes, she can get their bodies to go on natural detoxes. The body truly can heal itself if we give it the right tools. What's the first step to working with our genes? People are scared to get their DNA tested because of privacy issues. Her facility only tracks barcodes and no names. When Dr. J switched her diet around according to her genetics, she felt so much better. Dr. J got her genetic report from a bunch of different companies and their results were very "black or white" and the human body isn't designed that way. Certain superfoods like, turmeric, could actually make your body feel worse! If you have a genetic block to sulfur foods, a lot of strange symptoms can start to occur in your body, like itching. How do you know if you have a problem with your mitochondria? Dr. J's mother is 95 years old and she's living a fantasy life! You'd be surprised by how introducing basic nutrients into the body can literally stop cravings and addictions. What should you be aware of when it comes to histamines? Everything Dr. J knew prior to this DNA test was wrong. Listen to your body. If you feel worse if you exercise, your mitochondria could be out of balance.   Episode Summary: Dr. J used to be depressed and down all the time until she got a DNA test and realized her genetics didn't allow her to absorb certain nutrients naturally. When she was able to adjust to this new-found knowledge, she felt naturally happy for the very first time. She knows some doctors out there that have a tough patient that, no matter what they do, just doesn't get better. However, their genetics will tell you a different story. Dr. J shares how you can work with your genes, not against them, in this week's episode!   Guest Bio: Dr. J Dunn, creator of Wholistic Kinesiology® and Wholistic Methylation, has been practicing and teaching since 1988. I don't do it anymore. If we understand the biochemistry going on down there and turn on the body's ability to detox, then we don't have to do the cleanup."   "Your genes aren't going to change. What's best for you is going to be a lifetime guideline."   "There is no one-size-fits-all. It's very important to look at your nutrients."   "These aren't mutations. These are adaptations. Our ancestors adapted to times of starvation, that's why we hold on to weight so easily."
