What does it take to Follow a rejected and murdered Messiah? It requires letting go of my own efforts, plans, and schemes to save myself, giving up my very life, in order for Him to save me, embracing the shame of the cross, to gain the glory of His kingdom. The point is to gain the Kingdom - by gaining Jesus. The point of suffering is not suffering itself, The goal is to chase after Jesus - and to grab hold of Him. That requires getting rid of everything that gets in the way - in order to gain Jesus and to enter His glorious Kingdom.
