Takeaways From Michigan Football's Spring Game | Michigan Football 2023
from College Football with Sam · host Samuel Recker
Michigan Football played their final spring practice in the form of their annual spring game on April 1st. The Maize Team beat the Blue Team by a score of 22-21, with Maize converting a 2-pt conversion for the win. The Michigan Wolverines looked great on what was a cold and rainy day, especially in the trenches and at quarterback. Quarterbacks JJ McCarthy, Jack Tuttle, Davis Warren, and Alex Orji all received significant playing time, and all did anywhere from above average to great. McCarthy is obviously the starter, but the competition for the number 2 spot is wide open, and on a side note, I would like to see some run packages designed for Orji this fall. The defensive line and offensive lines were impressive. The offensive line showcased their depth with many projected starters recovering from injuries, and the defensive line seems to have reloaded, especially at the defensive end with Josaiah Stewart showcasing his athleticism. There are some concerns to be had at wide receiver and cornerback, but overall this team looks like it will contend for the 2023 National Championship.
