When thinking back to American history class, you might recall discussing the Declaration of Independence, the Civil War and the civil rights movement. At an early age, kids learn about the lives and stories of figures like Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr., but what about other events and influential figures in American history, specifically those involving the LGBTQ community?
