Taking up space: Being wholly and proudly ourselves in a world that has tried to keep us small

from The Divine Feminist · host Ceryn Rowntree

What would it mean to take up proudly and unapologetically space? That's something we're so often deterred from; from the childhood conditioning that tells us to stay quiet; to the societal rules that remind us to look, think and behave a certain way and convince us that we should simply be grateful for the space we are offered. It can lead us to believe that asking for more is ungracious, rude and to the detriment of other people. I'm here to remind you that those stories were never true; and never in our best interest. And what's more, I'm here to remind you that it's time you stepped out of the shadows, broke free of the restrictions those have led to and claimed your space in this world and this life wholly, completely and unapologetically as you are.
