Talbi Shines as Sunderland Edge Hull | Belfast News

Sunderland stunned Hull in the Carabao Cup with a dramatic 71st-minute winner from Chemsdine Talbi, who silenced all transfer rumors with a cool, clinical finish. Manager Regis Le Bris praised Talbi’s composure and tactical flexibility, deploying him in a new role while reshuffling the lineup ahead of their big Premier League clash against Arsenal. Sunderland surged out of the blocks, steadied after a dip, and held firm defensively as Hull pushed late — ultimately falling short on their best chance via Joe Gelhardt. Hull’s Sergej Jakirovic conceded the goal was avoidable but respected Sunderland’s quality. Talbi’s heroics send Sunderland through the cup and make a bold statement about his value — even amid speculation.
