#TalkBack: No masks or spit guards for your food handlers – any difference to you?

from Talkback · host CNA

From 1 January 2026, food handlers will no longer be required to wear masks or spit guards when preparing food. The Singapore Food Agency said it assessed the food safety risk from workers not using such protective gear to be low. Executive director at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases and Adjunct Associate Professor Shawn Vasoo added that major food-borne illnesses are not respiratory viruses and are mostly transmitted through the gut. Daniel Martin discusses further with Chan Fong Ying, Senior Food Safety Consultant with ISRC Private Limited, about how Singaporeans might feel in light of the move.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
