In this first book we meet Amelia, a woman of extraordinary gifts who is learning about herself in many ways. As she explores her lineage she begins to realize it is not in Texas but draws her back to the Australian Outback where she learns of her true past as part of a hidden Vampire enclave which goes back generations: who she is, what she is how she got there and what is is about to become is slowly pealed back to heroes stunning detail as her heritage is revealed to her as well as the alternate history of this enchanted past which also explains her own past while revealing the paths of her future. We also got more than a glimpse of the semi-autobiographical areas of this novel as Anna talked about all the areas in which she and Amelia were so very similar. The structure and narrative of the book is very free flowing and quick so the reader is never grind down and it is a very clever read. Its use of both vampires and werewolves existing within current society is jarringly effective. Enjoy the conversation.
