Talkin' Thrones Episode 1 - Winter is Coming

from Talkin' TV

Welcome to the premiere of Talkin' Thrones, the weekly recap show where Dom "The Movie Nerd" Rizzi and "Professor" Pat Huber sit down to discuss Game of Thrones and what happened on the road to that god awful finale. The show premiered ten years ago on April 17th, 2011, after a long and arduous journey to the screen. This happened when David Benioff sat down for a five hour lunch meeting with series creator George R. R. Martin and won him over by answering the question of who Jon Snow's mother is. HBO optioned the rights in 2007, and the pilot was shot in 2009, to poor results and reviews. It was then reshot in the following year, where they changed several cast members around, which resulted in the pilot we received, entitled "Winter is Coming." Pat & Dom break down their own relationship with Game of Thrones, how they got into it individually, the cultural impact the show has had, and so much more! They hit a focus character, this week being Bran Stark, portrayed in the show by Isaac Hempstead Wright, talk about the history of the Stark family, how Ned Stark's opening scene establishes his character journey and how the show ultimately differentiated itself structurally as well as culturally. It's going to be quite a journey with the #talkinthrones boys as they continue to examine this song of ice and fire, and it's all covered here on #talkintvpodcast #iceandfire #georgerrmartin #lore #starks #kinginthenorth #thewall #winterfell #winteriscoming #agameofthrones #agameofthronesnovel #sansa #arya #ned #nightswatch #whitewalkers #firstepisode #avclub #houseofthedragon #buildup #mystery #bransfall #incest #jonarryn #robertbaratheon #watercooler #monoculture
