Talkin' Thrones Episode 30 - Mhysa (Season 3 Finale)

from Talkin' TV

And another one finished. With that, we've reached the end of the line, officially at the finish line of the first third of the show. The Season 3 finale, entitled Mhysa, which is old Ghiscari for mother. This was a big season, despite the seeming pull back in action, but an important one at that. It signified a big shift in where the focus of the story would be going forward, recontextualizing the epicenter of the action from King's Landing and the struggle over Ned's death to more of the North and the threat of the White Walkers, and the east with the rise of the dragons. Word of the Red Wedding has spread across the land, and what makes this a great finale is that it actually feels like a story rather than just hastily wrapping up things and prepping them for the next season. The Freys & the Boltons assume their new positions as lords of the Riverlands and the North. Theon's captor is finally revealed. Bran & his group finally arrive at the wall and receive unexpected help. Jon makes it back to the Wall. Tyrion learns the news and learns just how little he means to his father. Stannis becomes convinced of the Red God's power and is set to sacrifice Gendry, but Davos disagrees.
