Talkin' Thrones Episode 6 - A Golden Crown

from Talkin' TV

On the latest episode of #talkinthrones, Professor Pat takes a break and Chris "The TV Nerd" Evanko comes in to help Dom break down Episode 6 of this tale of Ice & Fire in their Game of Thrones recap series, entitled "A Golden Crown." After a slight scheduling mix up, Dom & Pat return for their signature weekly recap show. In this episode, directed by Daniel Minahan and the only episode that Benioff & Weiss co-wrote with Buffy the Vampire slayer alumni Jane Espensen, things are truly shaping up for war. Ned is given control of the realm by Robert, and makes a bold move against the Lannisters before being given the last clue he needs to discover the truth he's been seeking. Tyrion, also our focus character, manages to figure out a way out of his sticky situation with his usage of Trial by Combat, something that he would use later on in the franchise to his benefit. As is covered on our History of the Gotchaverse segment, Trial by Combat is basically when you need a get out of jail free card and can have someone represent you in a one on one combat. Bran and Theon also go through some more life lesson moments in the north, but the real big moment of this episode happens in Essos, with Daenerys consuming an entire horse heart in some weird Dothraki ritual before Viserys finally makes his move, much to his chagrin, threatening his sister in front of the entire khalasar, and is therefore executed via molten gold being poured on his head. With our first main character casualty of the series, we bid adieau to Viserys, who was played fantastically by Harry Lloyd in the five episodes he appeared in.
