On this episode of Talking Guitars, I kick things off by showing you my Kramer Focus 1000 that I just put fresh strings on yesterday—make sure you check out that episode if you missed it! 🎶 Then we dive into an epic story: Ozzy Osbourne once revealed that Nuno Bettencourt was the only guitarist to ever tell him “no” when it came to joining his band—a rejection Ozzy never forgot. Ozzy’s ear for guitar greatness had already been proven when he pulled Randy Rhoads out of Quiet Riot. Nuno shared how, at just 14, after Randy’s passing, he actually mailed in a cassette to audition for Ozzy—but never got a response. Years later, Nuno’s band Extreme landed a track, Play With Me, on the Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure soundtrack, and that’s when Ozzy really took notice. 🤘 Ron hits the workbench and shows off some pickups he’s planning to drop into one of his guitars. Meanwhile, I share some exciting plans—tomorrow morning I’ll be at Music Therapy Laz’s studio filming a demo of the MXR Randy Rhoads pedals: the Polka Dot, the brand-new version, and of course the Yellow Distortion+!
