🎸 Talking Guitars: Mystery Box Mods, Tele Humbucker & Kramer Beretta Demo 12/12/25

On this killer episode of Talking Guitars on Johnny Beane TV, we kick things off with a cool story straight from Guitar World—then it’s full speed to the workbench 🔥 Few guitarists changed the landscape like Eddie Van Halen, and Steve Stevens has said witnessing his virtuosity firsthand hit so hard it pushed him away from rock guitar entirely. After opening for Van Halen for six weeks, Stevens felt burned out by rock excess and began questioning why he even played guitar. Rather than compete with EVH, he pivoted. He stopped playing electric guitar for a year, traveled the world with only a nylon-string, and reconnected with his love of flamenco after seeing Paco de Lucía. That journey led to his most experimental album, Flamenco A Go-Go (1999). Stevens embraced the creative reset, blending flamenco with influences from ’70s keyboards and synthesizers—drawing inspiration from players like Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman—proving that stepping away from the electric guitar ultimately expanded his musical voice. I crack open a mystery surprise box from Ron, packed with wild 3D-printed guitar parts, including Telecaster pickguards routed for humbuckers. We install one on my TEASE SBH-E Telecaster, drop in a generic humbucker, plug in, and boom—instant rock ’n’ roll tones 🤘 Then things get even hotter as I rip on the Kramer Beretta Special Ron modded with a Holoflash finish, loaded with a Seymour Duncan George Lynch Screamin’ Demon humbucker and a Vega Trem—this thing absolutely screams.
