As a thought experiment, sit down in a shady sidewalk cafe anywhere in the world w/ Western commercial music of the past 50 yrs playing in background speakers. My conjecture is that everything you hear will fit this pattern of 7 octaves (doublings) of tempo (or time). But mechanically. Like a drum computer. Like a click track. This is what I think of as the PIANO IN THE BRAIN, a self-world view which shapes both our thinking about, and our perception of, music.
