Talking Pirates & Cryptids with Rhys Darby

Rhys Darby, the comedian known for Flight of the Conchords, What We Do In The Shadows, Jumanji, is an obvious choice as a Talking Strange guest because of his long-running paranormal podcast The Cryptid Factor. But he is also starring in the new comedy Our Flag Means Death, premiering on HBO Max March 3, produced and co-starring his mate Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do In The Shadows). The 10-episode season is (very) loosely based on the true adventures of 18th century would-be Gentleman Pirate Stede Bonnet (Darby). After trading in a refined life to be a swashbuckler, he becomes captain of the pirate ship Revenge. Struggling to earn the respect of his potentially mutinous crew, Stede’s fortunes change after a fateful run-in with the infamous Captain Blackbeard, played by Waititi. And in the following talk, Rhys and Aaron Sagers (Travel Channel’s Paranormal Caught on Camera) discuss the pirate's life, as well as aliens, cryptids, and UFO disclosure.
