Memorial Day is coming soon, and with it the online premiere of a powerful drama rightfully called "the most realistic stage presentation brought to film about the true cost of war, made by the warriors and families who lived it." This is "Last Out: Elegy of a Green Beret," written by The Spaniard's guest in this episode, Ret. Lt. Col. Scott Mann, who also acts in the film with three other military veterans. Scott's 23 years in the U.S. Army, including 18 as a Green Beret, gave way to an agonizing transition to civilian life. Storytelling saved him, both as he shared his post-traumatic stress experience individually and through a one-man show from which came his one-act play "Last Out." After touring the country to powerful effect, then going dark due to COVID in 2020, the show is now a film.
