Recently, the trailer of local film Tanda Putera has sparked public debate over what critics allege is a controversial retelling of the May 13 1969 riots. The film, which centres on the administration of former prime minister Tun Abdul Razak and then Home Minister Tun Dr Ismail, is set to be released on November 15th. In the following interview, Tanda Putera producer and director Datin Paduka Shuhaimi Baba talks about why she decided to direct the film and answers the critics.
