Tap ’er Light: A ref bailed out by an honest player
from The ButteCast with Bill Foley · host Bill Foley
The funny thing about refereeing high school basketball is that you can never feel too high or too low. There is a cosmic balance to it all. When you call a foul, one team applauds and one is upset. Even if it is an obvious call, someone on the side of the team the call goes against disagrees. They might not yell too much, but you can hear the reaction. So, you never get too high when you are an official. But there is so much good in the game, that you also never get too low. It really is a thing of beauty once you embrace that.I had a perfect example of that Friday in Anaconda. The honesty of a player warmed my heart, but the words of an angry fan brought me right back down to Earth. That is what today’s column is about. You can read it for yourself at ButteCast.com.Opening music by Tim Montana. For more from the Elk Park native, go to timmontana.com.
