1:33:25 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I’ll present the audio of a cassette tape or historic material from my personal archives. Back in 1990, at age 22, I was working on a system called “Noyage”, which involved using the number 209 to alter reality. I made a series of tapes about the concept, often recording while driving. I’ve digitized and released four of these previously, and now here is the next one, from 2/21/90, where I’m driving back from Rhode Island to New Jersey in the middle of the night. It’s very strange for me to listen to myself as I was back then. I was in a very weird state of mind. Notes: Part Two of “On Noyage”, Wednesday, February 21, 1990, 4:07 AM, in Connecticut driving on Route 95 back to New Jersey, the numbers, the name “Thinki”, in New York, Nomadi, Nomadic Velocity, motion and steering, system of reality alteration, the human body, boolean concepts, an interaction at all levels, interact directly with reality, eight specific practices, Vince Lombardi Service Area, “industry standard”, 4:39 AM, OutRun, Galaga, thin crescent moon, Blamnoom, cheddar cheese, chocolate, music samples, 4:58 AM, New Jersey Turnpike South, higher concepts, travel, thrust, jargon, rivet, clash, hobby, astral projection, toll, Route 78, decks of cards, 441 miles since Pheasant Run Shopping Center, left at 1:20 AM, planning to go through the tapes, “Symboroream” / symbol from dream, 39 essays and 418 symbols, 445 miles, 5:38 AM, arrived home, Noyage plan, creating online worlds for virtual reality, Do Nomadi, good night, the next day, 4:44 AM, Thursday, 2/22/90, dreams, a meeting in a city, bookstore, Nanobooks, object shrinker, elevator, video games and pinball machines, turret, heads transformed, weird goo, digging trenches in the neighborhood, birdbath, mule and goat, castle, 6:06 AM, unemployed, another dream, office building at night, Robert Palmer, good morning, 6:01 AM, Friday, 2/23/90, sleep patterns, Zope View-Masters, parking lot, generator model, weird hobby shop, video machine, “no, it’s legal, lady”, stairs, LCD fish game, Tetris, Turnpike tunnel, have to go back to high school, 2009, Cherry 2000 (1988), drawer, Menlo Park Mall, car is gone, apartment, “vague fake people”, sleep schedule, strange ideas. I believe there are still more On Noyage tapes to digitize. Here are the ones I previously released: On Noyage (2/14/90) [released 3/22/10] 1:34:56Tape Land 105 – On Noyage 7 (3/23/90) [released 7/20/19] 1:34:35Tape Land 159 – On Noyage – Tape 2 – Plus Dreams (Feb. 1990) [released 3/24/22] 1:33:40 Tape Land 176 – On Noyage – Drive to Phillipsburg Mall (2/23/90) [released 1/5/25] 1:34:30 License for this track: Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/).
