2:29:27 – Welcome to Tape Land! On each episode, I’ll present the audio of a cassette tape or historic material from my personal archives. Two months before I finally gave up on OSOA (Obliviana Super Occult Amusement), and four months before I started The Overnightscape, I talk all about my projects while driving. It’s very interesting how I’m pretty much predicting podcasting, two years before it emerged. Also, mentioning an “audio days” concept that would be used at the start of The Overnightscape Underground five years later in 2007. Also, talking about an unrealized idea for “audio worlds” that I’d detail ten years later in 2012 (in “Audioworlders”). And the final part of the tape (two tapes, actually), is epic semi-coherent rambling while driving in the middle of the night. Notes: Saturday, November 9, 2002, sitting in my Jeep at 7-11 in Nutley, about to go down to my grandmother’s house, and then to Video Game Connections, to perhaps the last video game collector’s meeting ever there, just drank a Red Bull, the purpose of this tape is for me to talk about where Obliviana is at right now, history of OSOA (Obliviana Super Occult Amusement), hello multitude of people, feeling down, Fonosta Device aspect, ad in Weird New Jersey magazine, traffic on the Parkway, the current situation, three broad aspects of the system, Dashic Deeds, 209 / Forge of Wander / Four Roads / setting Storms, Metuchen Octagon Vision, Obliviana Board Game, Storm Codex deck of cards, Field Storms, polyhedral dice, Fonjo Racing, Glyph, Your Fonosta Device, “trading up”, Meta Glyphs, Yellow Denim Arcade, Friction Enhancers, Bluffcosm: The New Computerized Audio Entertainment, arrived at my grandmother’s house, leaving, 5:50 PM, Chili’s, I was looking for my hat but I was sitting on it, my relationship with my parents, politics, conspiracy theories, history of radio, Internet audio, types of audio content, NPR, iPod, listening to Internet audio shows on my MP3 player, Wendy’s, Zope, Severe Repair, Superior, something that could have been implemented in the past, MP3-CDs, audio “days” concept, Bluffcosm, Retrogaming Radio, Digital Llama Radio, interactive audio content, audio games, 1-800-TELL-ME, interactive audio worlds, ogg format, an open source audio subculture, arrived at Video Game Connections, Sunday, November 10, 2002, 4:55 AM, on Route 9, was at the diner with folks from the Video Game Collectors meeting, red jasper dice, conspiracy theories, the supernatural aspect, doubts on the 209 aspect, incoherent, recent events, the power of 209, audio formats, imaginary radio station, Black Envelopes, “fake” cults, Obliviana Radio, keep it simple, OsoaWeek, Obliviana Wander Radio, Stormtoon, just want to do audio, a real drag to think about this, really, arrived home.
