"For hver den som setter seg selv høyt, skal settes lavt, og den som setter seg selv lavt, skal settes høyt." (Luk 14,11)Jesus sa dette i en lignelse da Han så hvordan gjestene hos en fariseer valgte de beste plassene ved bordet. Det var flere til stede der, både en syk mann, Jesus og muligens disiplene Hans, og de ble dermed fortrengt til de minst ansette plassene. Er det slik vi gjør det i egne liv også?Jesus sa at faren med å verdsette seg selv høyere enn andre, er at du risikerer å bli offentlig ydmyket når det viser seg at du tok feil (v. 9). Selv valgte Jesus å sette seg selv lavt. Han forlot Guds tronhimmel og ble en tjener, og Han gikk til korset som en forbryter. Snakk om å velge den laveste plassen! Men etterpå opphøyde Gud Ham, høyt over alle andre, kan vi lese (Fil. 2,6-11)!Den som har funnet sin plass i livet, tar ikke plassen fra noen andre, leste jeg (T. Sjödin). Noe helt annet er det å ta Jesus sin plass. Å erkjenne si synd, er å la Jesus få førsteplassen. Og da skal vi en gang bli opphøyd sammen med Ham, sier Bibelen (Matt. 19,28-30)!Ja, la oss grunne på det i dag. Hvordan verdsetter vi oss selv? Setter vi oss høyere enn de rundt oss som trenger vår hjelp? Eller tar vi faktisk Jesus sin plass i livet vårt?
